ra#0001 – Crack a Bottle, Sudden Change, Everywhere I Go

So I was semi-requested to do a daily music review by a friend of mine… which I’m complying with because I think it’s a good idea. The reviews will be of music that I’ve just added to my iPod, within the last month or so. 3 reviews, 3 different artists (either hip-hop, rock, or indie).

Album: Crack a Bottle

A brand spankin’ new single has just been released by Em and crew, in preparation for his new album, “Relapse”, which is supposed to drop this Spring (my guess is in March since that is when most of his past albums have been released). As for the song itself, it’s quite refreshing to hear Eminem back in his full glory, throwing down malicious rhymes that make you cringe yet smile at the same time. CAB is fits some of the styles of his other songs like “Square Dance” but pretty much holds it’s own ground, with a distinctive new sound and new tone. If you’d like to hear it, it’s located on my facebook for the time being.

Sudden Change
Artist: 32 Leaves
Album: Welcome to the Fall

Want to hear Tool and Maynard James Keenan doing his thing again? Too fucking bad. Instead, check out this track by 32 Leaves… Sudden Change is brilliant in mimicking what Tool did, yet bringing it’s own uniqueness to the picture as well. The synthesized vocals of the lead singer in this particular song is fantastic.

Everywhere I Go
Artist: Hollywood Undead
Album: Swan Songs

Holy shit, and here I thought Rapcore was becoming a dead genre (now with Fort Minor kinda fading into memory). Hollywood Undead, I think, is my new favorite music group, hands down. HU brings new life(irony?) and force into the rap/rock genre with quick wit, sharp tongues, and just plain ol’ fucking obscene lyrics that have me chuckling to myself at times. The song, Everywhere I Go, is the quintessence of what HU is: Funny, brilliant, and lowbrow. You need to check this shit out.
